What is the reason behind your actions? Why are you doing what you are? Why are you living like this? What will Jesus do in your position? Will you keep doing what you do even when no one is watching? Our every act in life has a reason. Everything we do have basis and reasons as such, consequences. God looks at the reasons (the why) behind your actions but man looks at what you are doing. E.g. Going to church all the time.
A job half done is worth no remuneration. Doing things half-heartedly yields no results. Jeremiah 29:13 says; you will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart. This means, we should seek God with all our heart. For they that seek God with ALL their heart, do find him.Why do you do outreach? Are you doing this because you want to avoid questions from your shepherd? Or you do it because the bible says we should share the gospel and win souls for heaven.
Once a gentleman came proposing to me in church. He said ‘’you know, I am always in church and the pastor has his eyes on me all the time. I am almost always with the pastor and he monitors my every move. Because of this I cannot do you evil, pastors eyes are always on me”. With popped out eyes and widely opened mouth, I asked Huh? He said ‘’Yes’’, my next question was ‘’so what if Pastor sleeps 2 weeks after our marriage and never wakes up, as in dies”. This is a person who is doing things because pastor is always watching.
Sadly most Christians today please men (leaders) instead of God. It is very easy to think you are pleasing God when in actual fact you are serving man. This is not to say disobey your leaders. Not at all. The bible teaches us to give honor to whom honor is due. Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed. Romans 13:7. Obey and respect your leaders but please serve God. Why do you go to church? Is it because of your friends, is it to “kill” boring times or it is so that pastor will know you came around.
Our leaders are not an end in themselves; they are but only a means to an end. Wash pastors cars, bless them with money and gift items when your heart feels likes it but also make time to pray. Spend time with God and sing his praises. He is God and he is Lord of all men. Many people go to church for different reasons. What is yours? Will you still go for visitation/evangelism if pastor becomes mute and cannot tell you to do it? Let us learn to do things for God because the bible says so.
If you are closer to God and filled by the Holy Spirit you go soul winning without being told to do so. Be blameless before God. “Not so, with my servant Moses, He is faithful in my entire household’’. Numbers 12:7 Man may not see your good works but God does and that is all that is necessary.
May we have a relationship first with God, then man.
You are blessed!
